Why Coding is Important for Young People

Coding is important for youngsters to learn.

Recent studies put coding at the forefront of future careers. So, how do you learn and teach your children how to code and why is this so vital? More importantly, how young do you start teaching your children?

Here are some reasons why coding is vital for young minds.

Coding is another language

Language teaches children how to communicate and inspires logical thinking. Also, language strengthens both written and verbal skills.  Children should be exposed to various languages at an early age. It assists them in understanding the world around them better. Coding is a language all its own.

Coding fosters creativity

By experimenting, children strengthen their brains. Even when they make an error, they’re learning. Children can be creative, and creativity is urged. Creativity is part of the process, but not frequently the product.

Coding helps children with math skills

Coding helps children to be able to see abstract concepts, lets them use math with real-world situations, and makes math creative and fun.  Coding is part of numerous current STEM programs.

Coding improves writing academic performance

Children who learn to code know how to organize and plan thoughts.  This can create better writing skills that can be built upon as coding skills grow over time.

Coding helps children become confident problem solvers

As they learn to code and provide direction, they learn that there is not just one way to do something even if their way didn’t work.  They can enhance what they have already done without being afraid of failing. Coding is an elementary literacy in the digital age, and it is important for kids to understand and be able to work with and understand the technology around them.

Letting children learn to code at a young age gets them ready for the future. Coding helps kids with writing, math, communication, creativity, and confidence.
